Nominate a Santa Fe Living Treasure

Nominate a Santa Fe Living Treasure

PRESS RELEASE

January 27th, 2020

After 35 wonderful years of honoring Santa Fe’s elders, The Santa Fe Living Treasures committee is retiring from hosting their bi-annual ceremonies and will no longer be accepting nomination letters. The members of the committee will be dedicating their time and energy over the next year to creating and publishing the third and final book profiling the most recent 75 honorees, from 2009-2019.

Founded by Mary Lou Cook in 1984, Santa Fe Living Treasures has acknowledged 271 people who have generously served our community with kind hearts and good deeds.  The archive of all the living treasures, including photos, oral history interviews, and written material included with their nominations, is held at the Fray Angelico Chavez Library/Palace of the Governors, at the New Mexico History Museum. The committee wishes to thank everyone in the community who has contributed, in small and large ways, to the success of the Santa Fe Living Treasures program.  For the committee, it has been a joyful experience.
